In the context of the pandemic, the government issued Royal Decree Law 5/2021, which supports industries and companies through extraordinary measures. Among the sectors reached by the regulations, footwear was not included, which generated criticism and complaints.
In a statement, FICE considered that, just as retail trade is part of the relief measures, wholesale distribution and the footwear industry should also be incorporated.
"Our request is conclusive: footwear must be included as a susceptible recipient of these extraordinary measures due to the very delicate situation it faces, leading the falls in the industrial sectors with a 28.2% decrease in the Industrial Production Index (IPI) in 2020", was detailed from FICE, along with other negative indicators.
