Footwear exported below pre-pandemic levels
In the cumulative period up to October of last year, 134.4 million pairs were exported by Spain, reaching a value of € 2,750.6 million.
According to the General Directorate of Customs, the volume experienced a 1.7% decrease, while business increased by 6.6%, compared to the same months of 2022.
A similar performance was recorded compared to the period before the health crisis (2019), with a negative variation in pairs (-0.6%) and a positive one in value (+19.2%). This trend was consolidated in September and October 2023, significantly impacting the US and German markets, which are relevant for the sector.
The good performance of the value could be justified by the increase in inflation, according to journalistic media.
