Increased control in footwear waste disposal
In mid-May, GERESCAL (Footwear Waste Management) received authorization from the Generalitat Valenciana to implement the Collective System of Extended Producer Responsibility (SCRAP).
In this regard, the footwear sector will rely on this entity to ensure that landfills remain free of shoes, through a process of collection, storage, sorting, and recycling of industry waste, according to FICE.
“Gerescal represents innovation and a commitment to social and environmental responsibility within the footwear sector,” said Rosana Perán, president of GERESCAL.
The non-profit organization was established by nine companies, including PONS QUINTANA, GRUPO PIKOLINOS, MASCARÓ, UNISA, GIOSEPPO, WONDERS, PABLOSKY, PANTER, and MUSTANG.
