Manufacturers' and suppliers’ leaders expressed concern

For Marián Cano, representative of the footwear manufacturers of Valencia, where the United States is the first destination for exports, the initiative will be "a hard blow" for the sector that is currently facing the pandemic, with a delicate fashion consumption and significant difficulties at an economic level.

For his part, Manuel Román Ibáñez -president of AEC/Suppliers- said in a statement from the entity: “Such is the damage that can generate us, if the European Union and Spain do not reach an immediate agreement with the United States, and this tariff finally comes into force, that contracts, commercial operations, orders, investments and consequently, jobs will be lost, without mentioning the penalties for the subsidiary responsibilities of the contractual conditions already agreed that can be millionaires, further deteriorating the situation of the Spanish companies in our sector, which the pandemic has already left out of the game".
