Union conflict affects the footwear sector

Labor conflicts escalate in Spain, in the face of an inflationary process, which weakens workers' wages.

On December 1st, a strike called by the main unions was carried out, which was followed by approximately 95% of the footwear industry personnel, this is a volume of more than 30,000 workers, according to the statement by UGT-FICA -Federation of Industry, Construction and Agro of the General Union of Workers-.

The entity calls on the employers "to sit down to negotiate an agreement that dignifies the sector and improves the working conditions of the workforce...".

In turn, the strike planned for December 14th was cancelled, as a result of the mediation between the parties, which took place the day before by the Interconfederal Mediation and Arbitration Service (SIMA).

The proposal developed by the organization had to be ratified or rejected on December 27th.
