Spaniards bet on digitization to internationalize the sector

Generalizing the use of new contact and business tools is a priority for the Spanish footwear industry.
Faced with the average 30% drop in footwear sales due to Covid-19, the ICEX -Institute de Comercio Exterior de España- and FICE -Spanish Association of the Footwear Industry- created the GLOBAL THROUGH INNOVATION program, with the which aim to improve the internationalization of Spanish footwear companies through innovation and digital transformation.

The plan emerged from an analysis of the potential of the sector in domestic and foreign markets, and considering that in many factories the average degree of digitization remains low, with processes which are still manual. "These factors, in a changing and uncertain environment, they should substantially improved to expand the export potential of the Spanish footwear", warned from the ICEX.

The program began at the beginning of November and its duration is 18 months.
