Due to earthquakes, the World Footwear Congress in Turkey was postponed

​The largest international event that brings together leaders and professionals from different countries and regions, is tentatively rescheduled for November 2023.


Istanbul, the meeting point of the international sector, will be waiting for social normalization and activities, to be carried out.

The 7th edition of the World Footwear Congress, which would take place in Istanbul between May 9th and 11th, 2023, was postponed by decision of its organizers. It was taken as a result of the earthquakes that took place on February 6th in Turkey and Syria.

The event is promoted by the European Footwear Confederation (CEC), Turkish Footwear Industry Suppliers Association (AYSAD) and the Footwear Industrialists Association of Turkey (TASD).

In this regard, the promoters announced that the congress will be postponed for a few months, with a possible date of celebration in November 2023, taking into account the complexity of what happened. In the following weeks, the exact date of the meeting will be communicated.

In addition, and in view of the humanitarian crisis, the Turkish entities are in charge of providing work and housing to the victims; while the European organization carries out the supply of warm clothing and footwear..

The greatest impact of the earthquake occurred in various areas, some of which were the location of clothing and shoe factories, according to the CEC.
