Call for ratification of Mercosur-EU Agreement
COTANCE (The European Leather Industry), together with CEC (European Footwear Confederation) and other entities, urged the ratification of the agreement between the European Union and Mercosur.
The request was made through a letter to the authorities, highlighting the benefits of this treaty. Commercially, Mercosur represents a market of 270 million consumers, favoring job creation. Additionally, it is a source of raw materials that would benefit European manufacturers in their digital and green transformation.
Specifically for the leather sector, it would reinforce the implementation of the regulation against deforestation to be implemented within a year and strengthen ties with one of the main suppliers of the industry.
The agreement was defined as an initiative of social, economic, and geopolitical relevance for the European bloc, as published by COTANCE.
