Concern about possible measure

The “digital tax” or “Google tax” that Europe intends to apply to international digital services companies -most of them from the United States- keeps the footwear industry in Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, India, Austria and Turkey on edge.

The reason is that given this European measure, the US government would apply new taxes to different products of that origin, including footwear, which would significantly affect this industry.

Taking into account the importance of the US market, due to its purchasing power, the European sector puts pressure on its authorities to negotiate an agreement and avoid this situation.

Currently, the European Union has “cooled” the discussion, and the United States has taken until the end of November 2021 to make decisions.
