Luis Onofre continues to lead the CEC


The European Confederation of the Footwear Industry (CEC) re-elected the Portuguese Luis Onofre, to occupy the presidency of the entity for a second term for the next two years. The unanimous decision was taken on June 25th at the CEC General Assembly.

At the beginning of his new term, the leader stated, “these two years have been the most difficult for our sector, but we have to look for new opportunities for European footwear to strengthen its position in international markets. Keeping trade free, fair and balanced is our priority”, he concluded.

Onofre chairs the Portuguese Footwear, Components, Leather Goods Manufacturers’ Association (APICCAPS), and in turn, runs his factory with his own brand, recognized for high quality products.

In the future, the president of the Confederation will work on topics such as sustainability and digitization, in addition to attracting young talents.

Currently the European Footwear Confederation is made up of 21 thousand companies, responsible for 278 thousand jobs.
