Provisional agreement on ecological design
In early December, the European Council and the Parliament reached a provisional agreement on the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, bolstering the relevance of environmentally friendly products in the European Union.
The initiative will take into account reparability, durability, upgradeability, reusability, resource and energy efficiency, environmental and carbon footprint, recycled content, and Digital Product Passport, especially in high-impact sectors such as footwear and clothing, among others.
These industries must also assume the commitment regarding unsold products and avoid their destruction, reported the European Commission.
