Last year, general exports of hides and skins totaled 54,900 tons, worth US$ 148 million. Thus, the variations were positive by 25.1% and 62.9% respectively, according to data from the National Customs Directorate and reported by the Uruguay´s Exporters Association in its Report on Exports of Goods and Services.
Similarly, the entity reported an increase of 211.2% in the first quarter of 2022, for a volume of 41,915 tons. In addition, the US$ 39 million collected in leather and its manufactures, meant an increase of 19% compared to the same period in 2021, according to what was released by Uruguay XXI, the official export promotion agency.
