More footwear and leather were imported from Brazil


The increase in purchases of Brazilian leather was very significant.

​According to information provided by ABICALÇADOS, as of November 2021, Uruguay bought Brazilian footwear for a total volume of 1.7 million pairs, which meant an increase of 24.9%. In terms of value, businesses were US $ 17.1 million, a positive variation of 23.1% compared to the same period of the previous year. The fall was registered in the average value per pair (-1.4%), which was US $ 9.60, according to SECEX.

In addition, 1.2 million square meters of hides and skins were imported from Brazil, thus increasing the volume by 64.6% and the value by 53.9%, which reached US $ 8.7 million, as prepared and disseminated by CICB in based on SECEX.
