Products maintain tariff exclusion

Some imported footwear will continue to be tax-free, which will mean lower prices for consumers.

The Biden government announced in mid-December the extension for those products that were excluded from the taxes. Specifically, China's Section 301 sets aside 352 goods for nine months, which will not be subject to tariffs that were implemented during the Trump administration.

The initiative was welcomed by the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA). In this context, Steve Lamar -president and executive director of the entity-, affirmed that 25% of the total taxes are paid by the sector, although it accounts for 6% of imports, AAFA reported.
