The commercial sector supports measures against counterfeit footwear

During 2019, Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America (FDRA) showed their concern regarding the problem of intellectual property in the sector. As a measure in this situation, at the beginning of last December a new legislation entered the Congress. It would prevent the entry of counterfeit footwear, through more tools for the agency called US Customs and Border Protection.

Currently, counterfeit footwear enters the country without a brand, and after passing through Customs, they are placed. In this sense, the control over brand rights is inefficient, reported from FDRA.
