Unmet expectations for 2023

The December season did not come with purchase orders for the footwear industry, as stated by Tony Di Benedetto, president of the Venezuelan Chamber of Footwear and Components (CAVECAL). As a result, there was an acceleration in the interruption of production in the sector. The businessman also stated that there is less than 20% operational capacity in the factories and that the expectations for 2023 were not met. One of the factors influencing this outcome would be the issue of imports.

For 2024, the sector lacks a foundation to start activity, according to Di Benedetto's statement to Unión Radio, adding that more than 50% of annual sales are made in December.
