In the first six months of 2019, Vietnamese footwear exports show a good performance, with an increase of 14% compared to the same half of last year. One of the factors would be the exploitation of free trade agreements, such as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Transpacific Partnership (CPTPP), which offers a tariff reduction for Vietnam footwear.
During this year, business between US$ 500 and US$ 550 million is expected in the Canadian market, thanks to the elimination of the tariff on 78% of Vietnamese footwear that enters through the CPTPP, according to Phan Thi Thanh Xuan - general secretary of LEFASO-.
In addition, the expectation for this year is to increase exports to other countries included in the agreement between 10 and 15%.
