Pandemic complicates productions in Vietnam

In mid-September of this year, the footwear industry suffered a decrease in its productions due to the effects of Covid-19. Many of the large factories supplying international brands such as NIKE or ADIDAS had to restrict their activities due to the persistence of the health situation. From the industries, they report that a good part of the personnel has left the production centers in the south to avoid the pandemic, which has generated a notorious shortage of labor.

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Vietnam estimated that the decline in footwear exports was 38,5% until August 2021, compared to the same period in 2020.

Industrial sources indicate that they must necessarily delay and cancel orders, making themselves subject to heavy fines for non-compliance. Added to this is the increase in the price of supplies, as well as in transportation and logistics.
