Currently, Vietnam's footwear, leather, and textile industries do not generate significant added value to their products, despite being important sectors for export revenue. Raw materials must be imported, primarily from South Korea, China, and ASEAN markets.
In response to this situation, the government has considered the possibility of establishing a domestic raw materials center, with the industry needing to focus on social responsibility and sustainable manufacturing to meet the requirements of importing markets.
In this regard, Phan Thi Thanh Xuân, general secretary and vice president of the Vietnam Leather, Footwear, and Handbag Association (LEFASO), assured that there is greater rigor in import requirements and environmental care, and that the current dependence could become negative, reported Vietnam News.
