Revolutionary cushioning system: The new generation of NIKE AIR MAX

A unit with four tubes and two chambers beneath the heel gives the sensation of walking on air.

Different from anything known, the international brand explores new technologies to enhance user comfort.

The Dynamic Air technology, appearing for the first time in the AIR MAX Dn, comprises a system of four tubes and two chambers designed to offer incredible comfort, a smooth stride, and maximum bounce. The double-pressure Air unit includes two pressurized chambers, each with two tubes. The two chambers are strategically designed with higher pressure in the two rear tubes (103 kPa) and lower pressure in the two front tubes (34 kPa). According to movement, the air flows freely between the tubes in each chamber, allowing the air to respond to pressure, offering a smooth sensation with each step.

The bold and stylish NIKE AIR MAX Dn represents a new generation in the revolutionary cushioning technology that the brand launched more than three decades ago. They feature a reinvented platform that provides greater comfort and performance.

According to Reggie Hunter, NIKE's Sneakers Product Director, “Thanks to the dynamic movement achieved with the independent chamber system, the Air unit can react to the body's load with each step. The heel-to-toe transition is smooth because the unit interacts in real time with the foot and moves with it.”

Kathy Gomez, Vice President also in the product area, describes that “The thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) shank provides structure and support to the midfoot or waist area, and the TPU heel counter reinforces the Achilles tendon. The injected Phylon foam surrounding the Air unit offers comfort in the midfoot, and the rubber outsole, which encases the heel, is ideal for walking on various types of terrain with better traction and durability.”

The upper is made of an innovative fabric with a textured coating and silicone finish, allowing a smooth transition between the heel and toe.

Finally, the NIKE executive added: “Through constant research and an innovative spirit, we are creating something that genuinely challenges the limits of reality in terms of comfort and movement. And this is just the beginning of the future of Air.”
