The sports brand PENALTY returns to manufacturing in Argentina
The sporting goods brand founded in 1970 in the city of São Paulo, 100% of Brazilian capital, with a long history in its own market, in various Latin American countries and a presence on 5 continents, made the decision to produce again in Argentina.
In its previous period, it had entered the Argentine market in 1998, where it achieved good growth, but in December 2018 it had to close its factories due to the import opening.
According to Emerson Shiromaru, president of PENALTY Argentina, "our objective is to promote national production by assembling parts and components, such as soles and uppers, as well as 100% national finished products oriented to footwear and clothing. Our return is betting on the national industry and generating manpower and jobs, both in the industry as well as in shops throughout the country. We are very happy to announce the return of production in the country, we have been very well received and had a great support for the viability of this project by the Secretariat of Industry and the Ministry of Production of the Nation. We are very confident because the relationship of the Argentine public with sport is of an intensity and passion difficult to find, and is one of the great factors that motivate the participation of our company in the country. The culture of Argentines for sports is very similar to ours, since they are very passionate about team sports, which makes PENALTY have a very positive view of work in the region".

Initial production will be 15,000 pairs of football boots per month at the BICONTINENTAR industrial plant in Chivilcoy, Buenos Aires province, while the apparel will be manufactured in two units in the Agronomía and Olivos neighborhood, Buenos Aires. The start-up of the activity means the incorporation of 150 initial jobs, with a perspective of greater demand for labor in the medium term to increase production, according to the evolution of consumption.
