Between January 13, 14 and 15, 2020, a new edition of the Brazilian fair COUROMODA was held, at the Expo Center Norte fairground in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. Trends for the Fall/Winter season were presented through approximately 2,000 collections, accompanied by articles corresponding to High Summer. In this sense, the exhibition offer included footwear in all its lines, accessories, bags and clothing.
Among the novelties, the change in the number of days in which the event took place was highlighted. From 4 days passed to 3 days, which favored greater commercial interaction. This was reflected in sales and concurrence, according to Jeferson Santos -managing Director of COUROMODA-.
In this sense, the industry registered a 2% increase in 2019, according to data provided by Caetano Bianco Neto -president of the Deliberative Council of ABICALÇADOS-; while Airton Manoel Dias -Director of the COUROMODA Forum and the Couromoda Retail Committee- explained that, by 2020, the activity of the footwear sector could reach a 7% increase in its turnover, based on the forecasts of the country's economy in general.
Another positive news for the sector was the reduction of the ICMS tax -Circulation of Merchandise and Services- from 12 to 4% that will take effect from April 2020, and that will give greater competitiveness to the products. The measure, for now, was implemented by the governors of the states of São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul.
In 2021, COUROMODA will be held at the Expo Center Norte exhibition center of São Paulo, between Monday 11, Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13, January.
The chosen date tries not to coincide with other international fairs, such as Expo Riva Schuh in Italy and NRF Retail’s Big Show in New York, to concentrate more interest in COUROMODA.
The fair organization has drawn up an ambitious plan for its January 2021 edition, where it estimates to increase sales 5%, based on an intensive national and international outreach campaign. In particular for a greater attraction of buyers from Latin America and Europe in general.
