FIMEC in Brazil has a new date: May 4th-6th, 2021

The 45th edition of FIMEC, the event of leathers, materials, components, chemical products, accessories and technology for the footwear, manufactures and tanning industries, was finally confirmed for May 4th, 5th and 6th, 2021, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the FENAC premises, in Novo Hamburgo/RS, Brazil.

“The change in the date of realization responds to the requests of sectorial entities, which support FIMEC, which indicated that the previous program chosen for the month of March 2021, still presented certain risks, defining the postponement of the fair as the most appropriate action in the current health scenario", said the official statement of the fair organization.

Among the factors pointed out by the sectoral entities to justify the change of date are: the instability of the market in relation to the availability of raw material for the production of equipment, possible restrictions and difficulties in international travel, the lack of forecast that the Covid-19 vaccination will be consolidated in March, and the risk of little call in a transmission scenario that is still considered worrying.

Furthermore, the change of date is in line with the rescheduling of the other international fairs in the leather-footwear sector.

"We understand the current moment, and from conversations with sector entities, sponsors and exhibitors, we have identified that it will be more appropriate to hold FIMEC in May 2021", highlighted the director-president of FENAC, Marcio Jung.

Confirmed sponsors

Another of the novelties of FIMEC 2021, in addition to its modification of the date, is the confirmation of the presence of three great names of the supply industry that will sponsor the event: TRANSDUARTE, SICREDI and the multinational COVESTRO.

“Given the current economic scenario, having the support of these three large companies shows the relevance of FIMEC as a strategic event for the entire leather-footwear-manufactures chain. We know that it will be an extremely important event for the recovery of the sector in 2021”, stressed Marcio Jung.
