Innovation, sustainability and technology at FUTURMODA

The Spanish supplier fair concluded with over 5,000 visitors, surpassing previous expectations.

FUTURMODA gathered more than 5,000 visitors and 300 companies at IFA-Fira Alacant.

The 53rd edition of FUTURMODA, a leading trade fair in the leather, textiles, components, and machinery industry for footwear and leather goods, took place on March 12 and 13, 2025, at the IFA-Fira Alacant exhibition center.

The event featured the participation of 180 exhibitors representing 310 brands, covering an exhibition area of 12,500 square meters, according to the event organizers.

Regarding attendance, 5,003 national and international visitors took part in this edition. Some of the countries represented included Italy, Portugal, France, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, China, and India. In this regard, visitor numbers exceeded previous projections.

Álvaro Sánchez, General Director of the Spanish Association of Footwear Component Companies (AEC), highlighted the fair's growth in both exhibitors and visitors, stating that these results confirm that "the industry continues to bet on technological transformation and the development of more sustainable materials." He also emphasized that "the sector is evolving rapidly, and FUTURMODA reflects this evolution, consolidating itself as the leading platform for footwear and leather goods manufacturers."

Technology takes center stage at FUTURMODA

One of the main highlights of this edition was the machinery sector, which occupied 15% of the exhibition area. Automation, process optimization, and digitalization showcased the industrial transformation the sector is undergoing.

More than 20 companies presented advanced and sustainable equipment for footwear and leather goods manufacturing. The machinery area also hosted live demonstrations, allowing attendees to experience firsthand the functionality of various technological solutions and their impact on production.

Innovations included specialized machines for eco-friendly footwear manufacturing, introducing the production of anatomical insoles, innovative soles, and components made from biodegradable and recycled materials.

Another technology showcased was 3D printing, featuring equipment capable of creating high-precision final parts and prototypes, which are essential for the manufacturing of customized and exclusively designed products.

On the other hand, automated systems for cutting and assembling materials were exhibited, meeting the sustainability requirements imposed by international regulations and the growing demand for environmentally responsible products.

Expert Forum and Green Planet: knowledge and innovation

The parallel program included the Expert Forum, a space where companies and industry specialists analyzed the sector's main topics. Among the key discussions were conferences on process automation, the application of artificial intelligence in footwear, material recycling, and eco-design. Additionally, crucial aspects of digitalization and European regulations on waste and packaging management were debated.
