From February 19 to 21, 2020, the 98th edition of LINEAPELLE was held in Fieramilano Rho, only 30 minutes away from the city center of Milan. The exhibition was simultaneous with SIMAC-TANNING TECH -technology suppliers fair- and, after MICAM, the event dedicated to footwear and MIPEL of leather goods. For this reason, the joint event of these 4 fairs was a unique opportunity to learn about the entire spectrum of the leather-components-footwear-manufactures and technology sector. In the case of LINEAPELLE, there were 1,160 exhibitors, of which 746 came from Italy and 414 from 42 countries, occupying a total of 9 pavilions.
In addition to most Italian exhibitors, there was an important presence of other countries, such as Spain with 92 companies; Turkey 59; Germany 41; France 34; Portugal 32 and India 26. Representing Latin America, there were companies from Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. Among the products exhibited, skins and leathers, synthetic and woven materials, supplies and raw materials, various components and accessories stood out.
In the dissemination of the aesthetic concepts and contents of LINEAPELLE, elaborated by its own Fashion Committee, it states that next summer will have to do with simplification. They augur the ERA OF SIMPLIFICATION. This responds to the need and desire to stop excess and complications. In terms of style, the objective will be to use technology, especially digital. It will seek to reduce waste in time and space in graphic designs and sketches. Thus fashion will harmonize with the environment, showing detailed works on details and performance.
The philosophy of materials for summer 2021 is based on 3 inspirations:
FIRST: Basic and enhanced. Speed and digital synthesis have generated a new design. Mathematical calculations and algorithms become minimal forms. Technology helps simplify complexity through innovative solutions.
SECOND: New romance. Colors join technology to become pure light and fantastic tones. Glitters and sparkles generate a surreal atmosphere that creates a modern romantic style, presenting clear notes and radiant pastel colours.
THIRD: Craft. The simplicity of handmade products and the authenticity of the imperfect are poetic expressions of man's work. The craftsmanship exalts a Newtro vision -new retro-, reworking heritage with spaces for free expression.
In addition to the synergy established with the other fairs in the sector held on the same site, LINEAPELLE was held in the context of Fashion Week in Milan, an event of international call, which contributed to attracting more interest and visitors to the supplier exhibitions. There were presentations of new collections by important international fashion brands in different parts of Milan, adding to this, competitions and programs of activities related to design, leather and skins, promoted by LINEAPELLE and its organizing organization UNIC -Italian Union of Tanners-. In all actions, the theme of sustainability prevailed, as one of the axes for the future development of this industry.
