In February of this year, Argentina became the top buyer of Brazilian footwear, surpassing the United States, which moved to second place.
According to ABICALÇADOS, the Brazilian Footwear Industry Association, 1.24 million pairs were shipped to Argentina during the month, with a total value of US$ 22.2 million.
In the first two months of the year -January and February- Argentina imported 1.87 million pairs, valued at US$ 32.5 million, representing an increase of 58% in volume and 31.6% in revenue compared to the same period last year.
Despite losing its position as the main destination for Brazilian footwear in February, the United States remains the top buyer for the two-month period. In February, 792,800 pairs were shipped, totaling US$ 18.1 million, marking a 4% decline in volume but a 4.2% increase in revenue compared to February 2024. Over the two-month period, exports to the U.S. totaled 1.93 million pairs and US$ 37.17 million, showing a 0.6% increase in volume but a 4.5% decline in revenue versus the same period in 2024.
The third-largest importer of Brazilian footwear in February was Spain, receiving 1.54 million pairs worth US$ 3.6 million.
In the first two months of 2025, Brazil shipped a total of 21 million pairs, generating US$ 174.2 million, which reflected a 14.7% increase in volume and a 2.7% rise in revenue compared to the same period in 2024.
