Numerous factories specialized in the production of these emblematic footwear have been surprised by the increase in orders, which in the first four months of 2021 totaled shipments of 1.9 million pairs. This represented an increase of 186% compared to the same period in 2020, when 679 thousand pairs were exported.
Most of the shipments are by maquila system for US brands such as Justin Boots, Tony Lama, Ariat, Tecovas, Lucchese, Nocona and others.
The cowboy boots are made with exotic and regular leathers maintaining the classic modeling and construction, with an abundance of embroidery, embossing and details typical of this style.
The state of Guanajuato is the main producer with 70% of the national total.
According to the businessmen, exports resumed in August 2020, due to the recovery of the economy in the United States, which has allowed the reactivation of consumption. In addition, the cowboy boot is going through a fashionable period, which is why its sales have increased.
For many industrialists, in recent months, orders exceeded their production capacity, and they are focused on expanding production and redoubling the search for and incorporation of specialized operators.
The situation has caused satisfaction for manufacturers who had a forced pause due to the Covid-19 health crisis, and which now opens up a new possibility for growth.
