Alert in the USA over surge in high-end sneaker thefts

The Washington, D.C. police issued a statement to warn users.


The most famous international brands are top targets for thieves.

Amid a recent wave of thefts targeting young people wearing expensive fashion brand sneakers, the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C. is working to alert the public about this trend.

In the statement, D.C. police noted that sports sneakers, often valued between US$ 600 and US$ 1,200, have become a target for thieves. The alert highlights models from brands such as BALENCIAGA, LOUIS VUITTON, DIOR, AMIRI, and LANVIN as top choices for thieves.

To help keep everyone safe, the local police department urged the community to be mindful of the situation and take the following safety precautions:

  • Stay aware of your surroundings
  • Walk in groups
  • Avoid displaying high-value footwear
  • Use well-lit streets and sidewalks
  • Exercise caution on social media
  • Report suspicious activity
