The 95th edition of the Italian footwear fair was held between February 19th and 22nd, 2023 at the Fiera Milano exhibition center in Rho. On this occasion, the event lasted for four days, taking into account signs of reactivation in the market and with the aim of providing a greater space for business and contacts between national and foreign buyers and exhibitors.
Previously, ASSOCALZATURIFICI –an association that brings together Italian footwear manufacturers and organizer of the exhibition-, reported that they would have the presence of 988 brands, of which 451 were from abroad. The exhibition offer focused on the trends for the Autumn/Winter 2023-2024 season in women's, men's and children's footwear.
In addition to the majority of Italian exhibitors, there were also representatives of the main European countries,, such as Spain, Portugal, France and the United Kingdom. The representation of Turkey had 74 companies, while 65 brands arrived from Brazil.
"At a pivotal moment for sustaining the economic recovery of the sector and bringing productivity back to pre-pandemic levels, this trade show represents an extraordinary opportunity", said Giovanna Ceolini -president of the footwear entity and of MICAM-.
Within the framework of #micamtales, this time the third and last fairy tale was presented: MICAM of OZ, inspired by The Wizard of Oz. "A symbolic journey that represents the progress of footwear companies on the path to sustainability", explained the organization, through the representation of a young woman and two colorful characters traveling to the Emerald Castle.
The organizers added to the proposal, innovative areas that complemented the offer for the footwear and manufactured goods chain. In this sense, MICAM X added a new space for the Future of Retail, which focused on companies that generate cutting-edge technology for this retail sector.
In addition, sustainability had its place through VCS Verified and Certified, a certification for companies in the footwear industry, committed to caring for the environment.
On the other hand, the collections for Autumn/Winter 2023-2024 in materials and components were exhibited at Trends and Materials, with the collaboration of the Italian supply fair -LINEAPELLE-.
In this edition, MICAM MILANO also presented its usual Emerging Designers, with 12 international designers who presented their creations, among other parallel activities.
MICAM MILANO was held in parallel with MIPEL, a fair for leather goods and accessories; HOMI Fashion and Jewels, of jewelry, clothing and accessories and TheOneMilano, clothing exhibition.
The four fairs had a participation of more than 1,800 exhibitors, while attendance grew by 25% compared to the last edition, reaching a total of 48,276 visitors.
Among the Europeans, the presence of French, German, English, Spanish and Greek stood out, as well as the good performance of countries such as Japan, South Korea and Kazakhstan.
MICAM Milano will present the trends for the Spring/Summer 2024 season between Sunday 17th, Monday 18th, Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th September 2023 at Fiera Milano (Rho), together with the other two exhibitions: MIPEL and TheOneMilano.
